ROCHESTER - A Berwick woman escaped serious injury Saturday when her car rolled over trying to negotiate a curve on Salmon Falls Road.

The accident occurred around 11:15 a.m. when police say Elizabeth Pond, 43, was driving her Chevrolet Sonic southbound in the area of Whitehall Road when the vehicle left the roadway and ended up overturned in a drainage ditch.

Several citizens stopped and tried to aid Pond, who was trapped in the vehicle.

She was later freed from the wreckage and transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital by Frisbie EMS for what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries.

The vehicle suffered extensive damage and was towed from the scene.

If anyone witnessed the events that led up to the accident they are asked to call Officer Kimbrough at the Rochester Police Department.
