SOUTH LEBANON, Maine - Maine State Police arrested three New Hampshire residents including a Rochester woman on Friday after a traffic stop led to several drug and fugitive from justice charges.
The arrests unfolded after their car was stopped for speeding on Route 202 just east of the state line
During a brief roadside investigation, it was determined the driver and one of the passengers had extraditable warrants out of New Hampshire for felony drug possession charges.
Troopers soon determined one passenger in the car was providing a fake name. While he was being interviewed about his identity, drug paraphernalia was observed in his immediate proximity. Troopers then searched him and identified him as Matthew Allard, 34, of Laconia, N.H. and it was discovered he had an active warrant for his arrest.
Troopers searched the car and found crystal methamphetamine inside. The driver of the vehicle, Joshua Thomas, 22, of Nottingham, N.H., was charged with fugitive from justice and was held without bail. He was to be extradited to New Hampshire.
Another passenger, Ashley Moody, 33, of Rochester, N.H. was charged with being a fugitive from justice and unlawful possession of meth.
Moody was held without bail on the fugitive from justice charge and on $10,000 bail for the meth charge. She will also be extradited to New Hampshire.
Allard was also arrested on an outstanding Maine warrant. He was held on $100 bail for his outstanding Maine warrant and was also charged for failure to provide correct name to law enforcement.
