Woman nabbed in bottle theft from school donations bin

SANFORD - A Sanford woman has been charged with two counts of theft for allegedly stealing from a bottle donation bin at the Shapleigh Elementary School last week.

Jenna Gray, 23, was summonsed on two counts of theft by unauthorized taking after social media tipsters turned her in after a surveillance video of the incident was uploaded onto the York County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

The Shapleigh Parent-Teacher Association has kept a bottle donation bin at the Shapleigh Elementary School to help pay for school projects and field trips.

A press release from the YCSO noted that PTA officials said that for the past two years bottles were stolen from the bin.

Gray reportedly confessed to the crime to Sanford Police, admitting she took about $65 worth of bottles from the donation bin on two separate occasions.
