CONCORD - 1st District Congressman Chris Pappas officially filed for re-election at the New Hampshire State House today.

"Today I'm declaring my candidacy for re-election -- because in these trying times there's so much more work to do," Pappas said. "We might not know what's around the corner, but I do know that there's only one way forward: together. Whether it's ensuring access to health care, growing the economy, building the infrastructure of tomorrow, supporting our veterans, or protecting the environment, we must work with an urgent sense of common purpose as Granite Staters and Americans."

A lifelong resident of Manchester, Chris ran his 103 year-old family restaurant business before being elected to Congress.

In 2018 Chris made history as the first openly gay Representative to be elected to Congress from New Hampshire, and currently serves as Co-Chair of the House of Representatives LGBTQ Equality Caucus. He is a co-sponsor of the Equality Act and was a leader in the fight to pass the bill in the House last year. The landmark legislation amends existing civil right law to provide LGBTQ Americans with the same protections as other Americans in employment, housing, education, and public accommodations.
