2 sent to hospital, charges expected in Gonic Rd crash

ROCHESTER - Police say charges are expected after a collision today at the intersection of Gonic Road and the southbound Route 16 onramp sent two to the hospital.

The incident occurred around 8:40 a.m. when police say Nancy Ramos-Lisk, 56, of Rochester, was in a 2015 Jeep Renegade at the stoplight on Gonic Road on the southbound side waiting to turn left on to Route 16 south.

As Ramos-Lisk was making the left turn attempting to enter the highway she was struck by a 2002 Kia Optima operated by Melissa Aguirre, 37, heading north on Gonic Road, police say.

A juvenile passenger in Ramos-Lisk's vehicle was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital by Frisbie EMS for precautionary reasons. The vehicle had extensive damage with airbag deployment; the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

Aguirre and her vehicle were not on scene and were located at her residence. Aguirre was also transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital by Frisbie EMS for precautionary reasons. Her vehicle sustained extensive damage with airbag deployment as well.

This accident is still currently under investigation; charges are expected.
