ROCHESTER - Two from New Hampshire's Congressional delegation will be on hand for Monday's observance of Memorial Day at the Rochester Common.
There will be no parade, but the 11 a.m. ceremony will feature veterans of all branches of the armed services for the laying of the wreaths followed by an Honor Guard Salute. The American Legion Post 7 Color Guard will also be on hand.
A Memorial Day proclamation by President Biden will be read by Rochester Mayor Caroline McCarley.
Also in attendance will be U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan and 1st District Congressman Chris Pappas.
The Common will also be draped in 500 full-size American Flags that will run its perimeter as part of a Vouchers for Veterans "Field of Honor" project.
Chaplain for the day will be John Rodden of Post 47.
There will be no taps, because taps will be played on Monday at 3 p.m., but bagpiper Pat Boyle will be hand to do a "Military Set," and "Amazing Grace," noted Jeanne Varney Grover of Vouchers for Veterans, who is organizing the weekend's activities..
The 3 p.m. taps on Monday will be played by Scott Bergeron during a National Moment of Remembrance.
Taps will also be played at the Common by Bergeron and Lisa Stanley at 7 p.m. on Saturday, by Bergeron and Kristen Sturtevant at 7 p.m. on Sunday and by Bergeron and Stanley at 7 p.m. on Monday.
