ROCHESTER - A player on a late-nigh hockey league that plays regularly at the Rochester Arena has tested positive for COVID-19.

The league typically meets in the Arena on a weekly basis.

Recreation Department staff immediately consulted with local health and EOC officials, and the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services was also notified.

"This situation involved the adult league alone and had no interactions with any other arena users or youth hockey groups," said Chris Bowlen, Recreation and Arena Director. "We want to be as transparent as possible. We're doing everything we can to keep everyone safe."
Bowlen said masks are mandatory in the arena, and the building is thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated daily.

Local numbers still remain slightly elevated with Rochester again having the most active cases in the county with 14, followed by Dover with 13, Durham with 12, Somersworth, Barrington, Farmington and Milton with 1-4 and Strafford with none.

Meanwhile, DHHS announced 71 new positive test results for COVID-19 on Wednesday, for a daily PCR test positivity rate of 1.1 percent. Wednesday's results include 43 people who tested positive by PCR test and 28 who tested positive by antigen test.

Of those with complete information, there are 10 individuals under the age of 18 and two from Strafford County.

Two new hospitalized cases were identified for a current total of 18.

DHHS also announced two additional deaths related to COVID-19, both women from Hillsborough County, 60 or older
