William Dupuis ... longtime guitarist, singer in local bands; at 69

William Francis “Billy” Dupuis, 69, passed away on August 1, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Billy was born on October 31, 1956, in Wertheim, Germany, while his father was serving a two-year tour in the U.S. military. He was raised in Somersworth, New Hampshire, where he attended local schools and built the foundation for a life defined by hard work, creativity, and a deep love of music.

Music was Billy’s greatest passion. A gifted and accomplished musician and guitarist, he spent his life performing with local bands, including Frisco, Jet and Helm’s Deep, sharing his talent at celebrations, gatherings, and venues throughout the region. Many of Billy’s most valued memories were with longtime friends and fellow musicians who shared the stage with him over the years. Through rehearsals, performances, and countless moments of laughter and camaraderie, these friendships were an important part of his life. Whether on stage or among family and friends, Billy’s music brought happiness to countless people. His love of the guitar extended far beyond performing. He took great pride in his incredible guitar collection, appreciating the craftsmanship, history, and unique character of each instrument. For Billy, every guitar had a story, and music was a language he spoke effortlessly.

Billy began his career as a tool and die maker at the General Electric plant in Somersworth, New Hampshire, where he worked for several decades. Following his years at GE, he transitioned to carpentry, where he built and remodeled homes with the same skill, pride, and attention to detail that he brought to every aspect of his life.

Billy shared a deep and loving bond with his longtime partner, Patty Margolis. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and companionship. Much of their time was spent boating, fishing, practicing archery, and singing. These simple joys brought them closer and created lasting memories. Patty stood by Billy’s side through life’s blessings and hardships, including his battle with cancer, which he faced with grace and resilience. Their relationship was forever dear. It was a true partnership, grounded in love, devotion, and the happiness they found in one another’s company. Billy was grateful for the love and care they shared, and Patty’s presence was a treasured part of his life.

Billy was predeceased by his father, Robert Emil Joseph Dupuis, and his mother, Frances Theresa Ball Dupuis.

He is survived by his loving partner, Patty Margolis; his son, Matthew Dupuis and his wife Andrea; his stepsons, Adam Hobson and his wife Jennene; and Eric Hobson and his wife, Megan; his sister Kathy Dupuis Dunne and her wife, Sharon; his brother, Tommy Dupuis and his wife, Darleen; his sister, Karen Haney and her husband, Dave; his sister, Carol Sharrow; his cherished grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends. He is also survived by his loyal rescue dog Betty, who spent her days resting at his side.
