HOLDERNESS — Squam Lakes Natural Science Center will celebrate its first-ever Grandparents Day on Oct. 3 inviting generations to come together for a day of nature, wildlife, and family fun. As part of the new event, grandchildren ages 16 and younger will receive free admission when accompanied by a grandparent.
Grandparents and grandchildren are invited to spend the day exploring the Science Center’s Live Animal Exhibit Trail, discovering New Hampshire wildlife, and making memories together. Visitors can also attend special Up Close to Animals presentations at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., offering an opportunity to see animal ambassadors up close while learning about their characteristics, behaviors, and the important role in New Hampshire’s ecosystems.
Grandparents Day will also feature a special offer in the Howling Coyote Gift Shop. Grandparents accompanied by a grandchild can buy one and get one free of a featured stuffed animal, while supplies last. Families can take home a new stuffed animal as a reminder of their day exploring together.
“One of the joys of working at the Science Center is seeing multi-generational families all enjoying the animals and exhibits together,” said Iain MacLeod, Executive Director, of the Science Center. “Creating lifetime memories is what we strive for and Grandparents Day is just another way to make that happen.”
The new event is part of the Science Center’s 60th Anniversary season, marking 60 years of connecting people with the natural world of New Hampshire. Throughout its history, the Science Center has welcomed generations of families to explore, learn, and develop a deeper connection with the natural world. Grandparents Day reflects the Science Center’s commitment to creating opportunities for joy, connection, and wonder through meaningful experiences in nature.
