A peaceful, easy feeling and a darn good bagel at Rochester's Busy Bee Cafe

ROCHESTER – I’ve been gluten free for about 40 years and have tried many gluten free bagels at restaurants all over New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts.

They all tasted like a toasted hamburger bun, until Tuesday, when I got a gluten free “everything bagel” with cream cheese at the Busy Bee Cafe at 22 North Main St. in Rochester.

The cafe not only has some of the tastiest baked goods like chocolate croissants, pumpkin bread, coffee cakes and cookies, but also a huge assortments of coffees, both hot and cold.

In addition they have premium sauces and other things you can take advantage of to make yourself a coffee as unique as you.

But it is also the peaceful, easy feeling you get when you leave busy North Main Street and enter the quiet comfort of the Busy Bee Cafe as you steal away to seek quiet sanctuary.

You can plop down on one of their comfortable easy chairs or a couch to relax and sip on your brew. Or you can go to the play room and sit and play a board game with your friends.

There’s even a magnetic scrabble game on the wall so you can show off your scrabble prowess to everyone in the room.

Of coure many were just checking their phones for messages or emails, or perhaps they were playing a game, too!

But back to the bagel. I used to enjoy going to Ken’s at Copley on Boylston Street in Boston where I’d get a bagel everyday before going to work.

That bagel I had on Tuesday at Busy Bee brought me back to Ken’s at Copley almost 50 years ago.
