ROCHESTER - Anthony Rawls Sr., 71, died on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Pinkie (Jones) Rawls for 48 years. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., on February 6, 1946, he was the son of the late Frances Lindsay and Louberta Rawls.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Anthony Rawls Jr. and his wife Cheryl of Northwood, Christopher Halie Rawls of Rochester, and his daughter, Sharon Rawls of Albany, Ga.; two brothers, Michael Lindsay of Ga. and Walter Moore of Penn.; his grandchildren, Xavier Tamya Deante Rawls, Reginald Robbinson, Mariah Valerio, and DeAndre Arianna Rawls.
He is predeceased by his son, Walter Rawls in 2007, and his sister, Francine Chapman.
Anthony lived in Rochester for five years after moving from Albany, Ga. He served in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked as a pipefitter at the Portsmouth Naval shipyard. His hobbies included photography, music, and yard sales. He also belonged to the Masons' Portsmouth Lodge.
