EASTON, Maine - An Aroostook County woman has been indicted in the March death of her infant child, according to a Friday statement from Maine State Police.

Mariah Dobbins of Easton, 28, was charged with manslaughter and remains jailed at the county jail on $10,000 cash or $100,000 surety.

Police first got involved in the case on March 19 when medical personnel and State Troopers were called to 311 Center Road for an unresponsive 1-year-old child. The male infant was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

An autopsy followed and lab results were pending until Thursday when the medical examiner's office ruled the death a homicide.

On July 14 Dobbins was indicted by an Aroostook County Grand Jury on one count of manslaughter, and she was taken into custody on July 16 at her home.

An arraignment is set for Sept. 14.

MSP spokesperson Shannon Moss confirmed that investigators at this time will not be releasing the cause of death.

Meanwhile, in a bizarre standoff between state and jail officials both agencies defer to the other on releasing Dobbins' booking photo and neither will budge, meaning for now no booking photo of the suspect is available to news outlets.
