Frederick Hussey ... longtime landscaper at UNH; at 68

ROCHESTER - Frederick 'Fred' C. Hussey, 68, of Rochester, died peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025, after his long battle with cancer, with his wife by his side.

Fred was born in Newburyport, MA, on May 2, 1957. He is predeceased by his parents, Frederick Hussey, Sr. of Newburyport, MA, and Jacquelin (Field) Brideau of Seabrook, NH. He is also predeceased by a brother, Timothy Hussey of Somersworth, NH.

Fred attended the Kelly School in Newburyport, MA before moving to Maine, where he attended the Noble School system. Fred's family then moved to Hawaii, where Fred attended high school. Fred served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1984. He served his military career in Hawaii before moving to NH. Fred worked as a landscaper at the University of NH for many years.

Fred is survived by his wife of 26 years, Melinda (Perkins) of Rochester, son, Kyle Hussey and wife Dorothy of Rochester, NH, 3 step-sons: Justin Perkins and his partner Megan of Florida, Trevor Perkins and his wife Michelle of Rochester, NH, and Devin Perkins and his wife Sonja of Dover, NH; one sister Carolyn Cullen of Rochester, NH. He is also survived by 3 granddaughters: Rebecca, Teaghan, and Paige, one grandson, Kyle Jr., a nephew Josh, whom Fred always considered another son, and a great-nephew, Jaxson.

Fred loved spending time with family and the many friends whom he always considered his extended family. Fred enjoyed spending time in his garage tinkering with wood, listening to classic rock and roll music, and enjoying a good party. Fred was always the life of the party, and his big personality will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
