ROCHESTER - Kenneth J. Jones, Jr. of Rochester, NH, passed away on August 15, 2026 after a lengthy decline in health. Ken was four days away from his 83rd birthday and was with his family at the time of his death. Ken was born in Claremont, NH August 19, 1943, and lived his entire life in his beloved New Hampshire, primarily in Rochester, where he attended elementary and high school. He earned a degree in English Literature from St. Michael’s College in Winooski,VT, and a masters degree in English from UNH. Ken spent many years as a member of the English Department at Dover High School where he excelled as an educator and track coach. After leaving Dover High School, Ken continued to support adolescents as the Education Director at Dover Children's Home.

Ken was an avid sports enthusiast and spent years as a competitive runner and tennis player. Having tried his hand at marathon running, he became a huge fan of the Boston Marathon and never missed a chance to watch as a spectator. Ken’s other passions were the Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Ken also loved to read great works of literature and discuss these with friends and family.

Ken was pre-deceased by the love of his life, Marjorie (Tibbetts) Jones. He leaves his daughter, Carey Jones, of Rochester and his stepson, Steve Wentworth, of Rochester. Steve spent many years caring for Ken as he experienced a decline in health. Ken also leaves his sister, Deborah (Jones) Podbelski of Marshfield, MA. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Dr. Kenneth Jones and Dorothy (Haynes) Jones of Rochester, NH.
