MILTON - Ice Racing is expected at full throttle today at Mi-Te-Jo Campground after an abundance of cold winter weather has made for a full-fledged renaissance of the sport.

The New England Ice Racing Association (NEIRA) has had more ice to run their races on than in many a year and more and more cars and food options at the ice track are hoped to continue the popularity, said ice racing enthusiast Michael Bernier.

Milton Boy Scout Troop 155 is expected to be serving refreshments today, and local American Legion and VFW posts will also be on hand for prerace ceremonies, including the National Anthem.

You never know what you'll see when you go to the ice races at Mi-Te-Jo. The pilot of this plane flew in during festivities a few weeks ago, had a beverage, got back in his plane and took off, literally.

Other possible food options were being finalized on Saturday.

More than a dozen cars are expected to compete today beginning at noon in at least three categories: supermodified, V8-rear wheel and 4-cylinder front-wheel drive. Bernier said he expects to race his motorcycle.

Admission is just $10 a carload. For up-to-date scheduling info call 603-652-4ICE.
