DOVER - The deaths of an elderly Dover woman and her son on Tuesday were found to be the result of a murder-suicide, according to the state's Chief Medical Examiner who conducted autopsies on Wednesday.

The bodies of Eileen Shevelin, 78, and Thomas Wallace, 57) which were discovered inside their Dover Point Road home Dover Tuesday morning around 9 a.m.

The autopsies revealed that Shevelin's cause of death was asphyxiation, and her manner of death was homicide; and that Wallace's cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the head, and his manner of death was suicide.

Investigators believe that sometime between Monday and Tuesday Wallace asphyxiated his mother and then took his own life using a handgun while they were inside the home.
