DOVER - A Farmington woman was injured and a Massachusetts woman was arrested for drunken driving after a crash on the Spaulding Turnpike clogged the highway for about an hour Tuesday night. The collision occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the area of mile marker 11 in Dover. State Police responded and found that a 2014 BMW 328XI being operated by Abbygayl George, 40 of Shrewsbury, Mass., was traveling north when she drove into a 2014 Ford Fiesta being driven by Erica Bruce, 35 of Farmington, which was also headed north. The Ford was then pushed into the guardrail on the west side of the roadway, while the BMW continued north and subsequently crashed through the guardrail, coming to a final rest on the southbound side of the highway. As a result of the crash with the guardrail, approximately thirty feet of rail was pushed across the southbound lanes of Route 16 causing the roadway to be shut down for about an hour. Southbound traffic had to be diverted around the crash scene by way of Exit 9. As a result of the crash, the high speed lane of Route 16 northbound was also shut down an hour. Traffic continued to flow north via the travel lane.
