Bertha (Picard) Foss ... enjoyed time with the Red Hats



ROCHESTER - Bertha (Picard) Foss of Rochester died on Monday, July 27, 2020 with her family by her side.

She was born in September 1925 in Rochester, the daughter of Napoleon and Sarah (Winkley) Picard. Bertha graduated from Spaulding High School and later married her high school sweetheart Harold Foss Jr.

Bertha worked at the telephone company and then owned Colonial Crafts teaching ceramics. Later, she worked at Frisbee Memorial Hospital until she retired as a nurse's aide.

Bertha was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She loved joining the Red Hats on outings and dancing at Spaulding High School and in South Berwick with her friends. Luncheons with her classmates were always a special time for her. She loved driving through New Hampshire, boating, snowmobiling, jet skiing, enjoying time at the lake and spending time with family and friends. Her friends, son & grandchildren defined her life and she was famous for her creative flair, dessert creations, ceramics and crocheting.

Bertha was predeceased by her husband, Harold Foss, Jr., her sister Yvonne Girouard, and her life-long friend Hazel Hurley. She is survived by her son James Foss and his wife Joyce, her sister Louise Cutten, her grandchildren Jason Foss and his wife Pamela, Julie Foss, and Jamie Flynn and her husband Michael, her great grandchildren Tiaan, Caleb and Alex and several friends, nieces and nephews.
