Berwick, Barrington suffering greatest number of outages due to ongoing storm

Thousands of Greater Rochester households are in the dark today after an overnight storm dropped a half foot or more of snow across the region, the second storm in three days to do so.

Barrington and Berwick, Maine, are getting hit the hardest, with a third of Barrington households and more than half of Berwick's still without power as of 9:30 a.m. today.

Other towns affected by outages include Dover, 1,452 households; Farmington, 79 households; Rochester, 213 households; Somersworth, 326 households; and Lebanon, Maine, 52 households.

Both Eversource and Central Maine Power put out messages ahead of the storm saying they would be deploying extra restoration crews to get everyone's power back on as soon as possible.

As of 8:30 a.m., more than 30,000 customers were without power across New Hampshire as thewinter storm brought heavy snow and freezing rain to the region along with wind gusts of up to 35 mph.

"We are already experiencing power outages across the state. Keep you and your family safe if you lose power," said Robert Buxton, Director of the New Hampshire Department of Safety's Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. "Practice power outage safety. Never run a generator indoors. If you come across downed wires, stay away and call 9-1-1."
