ROCHESTER - A Berwick woman was arrested for drunken driving on Sunday after her car crashed into several large rocks at the corner of Whitehall Road and Chamberlain Street.

Police became involved in the incident around 3:50 a.m. when they were notified of a driver, who was suspected to be impaired, who had left the area of 355 Portland St. in a black 2015 Volkswagen Beetle.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle after a brief search and found it had been involved in a crash at the corner of Chamberlain Street and Whitehall Road where it had struck several large boulders.

A brief investigation found that the driver of the VW, Lina Rice, 23 of Berwick Maine, had gone off the road while Rice was attempting to make a left turn onto Whitehall Road from Chamberlain Street.

Rice suffered what were described as minor injuries and was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

She was later charged with DUI with a November arraignment.

The Volkswagen sustained significant damage and had to be towed from the scene.
