Berwick woman arrested in hit-and-run that hurt three

ROCHESTER - The South Berwick woman identified as the driver in last month's hit-and-run accident that injured three was arrested on Friday.

Dawn Sandler, 48, of 1 Locust Lane, was charged with three counts of conduct after an accident, all Class B felonies for personal injury, in connection with the Feb. 20 incident that occurred on Rochester Hill Road in which she struck three pedestrians.

The pedestrian most seriously injured in the crash was Medflighted to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, while the other two were transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital where one was treated and released and one was initially admitted.

The three individuals who were struck have been identified as Alexander Solivan, 34, of Lawrence, Mass., and Eleanor Farrell, 26, and Amanda Demers, 28, both of Rochester.

The incident occurred on Rochester Hill Road near the Hi Vu Motor Inn while they were crossing the street after getting off a northbound COAST bus around 8:10 p.m., police said.

Police allege Sandler continued south on Rochester Hill Road after knowingly hitting the victims.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found the three lying in the southbound lane of travel with severe injuries, with debris scattered throughout the road.
