Budget board to mull revised dept. budgets on Thursday

LEBANON - The Lebanon Budget Committee will review and could vote on revised Fire and EMS, transfer station and Code Enforcement Office budgets Thursday during a regularly scheduled selectmen's meeting at Town Offices on Upper Guinea Road.

It will be the first meeting for newly elected board member Rebecca Beal, who was the top vote getter on Election Day.

Corinna Cole and Deborah Wilson were also expected to assume positions, but an ordinance passed during May 10 voting limited the board to nine members.

Since Cole got the second highest vote total, she assumed the alternate slot. The other members as listed on the town website are Jeri Basko, chair; Blaine "Skip" Wood, Judy Churchard, Bettie Harris-Howard, Laura Bragg, Karen Gerrish, Rebecca Batchelder and Sean Bright.

The committee unanimously rejected both the original Fire and EMS budget, 7-0, with Cole and Basko abstaining; and the transfer station, 9-0, with no abstentions.

They also rejected the code enforcement budget, 6-3.

All three budgets were voted down on May 10. Town officials have set a June 25 date for a Special Open Town Meeting in order to attempt to get a voter-approved 2015-16 FY budget approved prior to July 1, the start of the next fiscal year.

Thursday's meeting begins at 6 p.m.

A second agenda item regarding medical marijuana facilities is tentatively set for 6:30 p.m.
