GONIC - A Rochester Police Officer responding to a call for a man walking around on Church Street smashing windows and doors with a baseball bat Monday night found two men with active warrants near the scene.

The incident unfolded around 8:30 p.m. as police responded to the disturbance and arrested Jason Ouelette, 41, a transient; and Robert Fred Jones, 54, of 10 Church St.

Jones' warrants were for resisting arrest, and loitering in connection with an alleged shoplifting at Walmart in which he ran and hid from officers, Capt. Todd Pinkham said today.

Ouelette's bench warrant stemmed from a driving after license revocation complaint (subsequent).

The two men, who are known to each other, both refused to make a statements on the disturbance that prompted police to get involved in the first place.

Both were bailed on personal recognizance later that night.
