SEBASTIAN, Fla. - Carolyn French Laporte, 71, danced her way to heaven on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass., after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. Carolyn was born in Rochester, N.H., on September 7, 1944, the beloved daughter of Wesley and Vivian (Preston) French.
Carolyn grew up in Rochester and moved onto Palmer, Mass., for many years while being employed by the US Postal Service. The last 20 years she resided in Sebastian, where she was a member of the American Legion Auxillary. She was a line dance instructor (known as Bootsie) there as well as N.H., when she visited during the summer months. She was also a Co-Leader in TOPS. Carolyn was a patriotic person with a huge heart and was almost impossible to keep up with always busy helping someone. A few of her favorite activities were golfing, dancing, bowling, and entertaining the elderly with her dance group.
Surviving members of her grieving family include: her step-children, Linda and John Vacon of Holyoke, Mass., Sandy Dunn of Huntington, Mass., Mark Laporte of Springfield, Mass., Laurie Laporte of Hull, Mass., her sisters, Elaine Hasty of Rochester, N.H., Louise Treadwell of Rollinsford, N.H., four grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Reginald Laporte, and her parents.
