CONCORD - DHHS announced 48 new positive test results for COVID-19 on Friday, the largest daily spike in recent weeks.

Of those with complete information, there are five individuals under the age of 18 and six in Strafford County.

Even with the spike only one new hospitalized case was identified, likely meaning many of those tested remain asymptomatic. Current hospitalizations are at just seven.

Again, no new virus deaths were reported.

Meanwhile, 66 UNH students remain in isolation and another 257 students are under quarantine, officials reported. With all the cases associated with virus exposures at UNH, the number monitored by contact tracers jumped more than 200 from a week ago, from 1,700 to 1,925.

Last week, 169 students were in quarantine in Durham alone. The current COVID case number in Durham is 32.

Other local case numbers include Dover at seven, Rochester, Somersworth, Barrington and Farmington at 1-4 and Strafford and Milton with none.
