ROCHESTER - Charles Alexander McDonald III died Saturday, April 4, 2015, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital.

Born May 21, 1951, in Wheeling, W. VA., the son of Charles Alexander McDonald, Jr. and Gene (Porter) McDonald. Charles grew up in Cherry Hill, N.J. and attended the University of Virginia. He spent most of his life working in Retail Management, where he enjoyed and excelled at working with people. He later taught classes for illiterate adults and GED courses at the Strafford County Corrections Facility.

He enjoyed film, history, cars, aviation, reading, and his dogs. He was in the process of writing a novel. Members of his family include his beloved wife of 34 years Betsy (Gullatt) McDonald of Rochester, N.H.; his mother Gene McDonald of Cherry Hill, N.J.; his siblings Stephen McDonald of Delran, N.J.; Cynthia Payne of Bedford, N.H.; and Patricia McDonald of Cherry Hill, N.J.; a niece Morgan McDonald of Moorestown, N.J.; and two nephews Evan McDonald of Philadelphia, PA; and Michael Payne of Brooklyn, N.Y. He was predeceased by his father Charles A. McDonald, Jr.
