FARMINGTON - Christopher D. Whittum died on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 after a brief illness. Chris was born on April 30, 1967 in Rochester.
He graduated from Farmington High School. After high school he attended White Pines College and Franklin Pierce College.
He worked at the Rochester Public Library while obtaining a master's degree in Learning and Technology from Western Governors University.
In earlier years he taught at Gonic Elementary School and more recently at Rochester Middle School while working on a sequel to his book Energize Education through Open Source.
Chris touched many lives while working with special needs children. His thirst for learning and teaching others made his life special to his friends, co-workers, students, and family.
Throughout his life he enjoyed being on the farm with adopted rescue dogs and various cats. Chris also showed sheep and dogs in 4 H in his youth. His love of walking in the woods with his camera captured many memorable photos of nature's wonders.
His buoyant personality, sense of humor and keen mind affected all who were privileged to know him.
Chris was especially fond of his niece Ayla Brewster who he assisted and mentored in coping with the diagnosis of autism early in her life.
He is survived by his parents Sylvia and Donald Whittum and sisters Sara and Melissa Whittum, all of Farmington, N. H.
