ROCHESTER - Rochester's city manager said on Friday that the city's email system that had been shut down most of the week due to a system vulnerability was now for the most part up and running again.

City Manager Blaine Cox said the majority of city email addresses were back online by 8 a.m.

He said the vulnerability was discovered early in the week, prompting the city's IT expert to probe whether hackers had breached the system's safeguards.

The city officially made the announcement of a potential "vulnerability" on Tuesday.

"We see no evidence of damage or information lost," Cox noted. He added it's unclear when the current investigation into whether or not a cyber attack occurred would be completed.
