City man arrested for DUI after Ten Rod Rd. crash

ROCHESTER - A Rochester man was arrested for drunken driving on Friday after police say the vehicle he was driving went off the roadway on Ten Rod Road and snapped a telephone pole.

David Demers, 33, no street address given, was charged with a DUI and given a court date of Nov. 4 in the 7th Circuit Court in Rochester.

The accident occurred around 8 p.m. when Demers’ 2012 Mazda Three veered off the right side of the road, left the paved portion of the roadway and struck the pole, which snapped and became wedged on the hood of the vehicle, police said.

The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage and was towed.

The road was shut down approximately seven hours during the investigation and replacement of the telephone pole.
