DOVER, N.H. - A Rochester man has been indicted on charges of possession of a controlled drug, fentanyl.

Douglas Gray, 43, of 155 Pine St., was arrested on Dec. 16. Police say he had less than a half ounce of the drug in his possession at the time.

Fentanyl is a super strong opioid painkiller. It is approximately 80 to 100 times more potent than morphine and roughly 15 to 20 times more potent than heroin. It has been blamed in several area overdoses.

Gray is charged with a special felony in connection with the case, a charge that could land him up to seven years in prison as well as a $100,000 fine.

The Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down April 16 and released on Tuesday.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that a grand jury has found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
