City man faces up to life in prison for alleged sexual assaults on helpless victim

DOVER - A 47-year-old Rochester man is facing up to 80 years in prison on four counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault for repeatedly having coitus with a woman in her mid-30s who was "physically helpless to resist," according to court documents.
Scott Barrett, with a last known address of 62 Charles St., Apt. #4, was formally charged by a Strafford County grand jury earlier this month. The charges are all classified "special felonies," which each carry a 10- to 20-sentence.
The alleged incidents all occurred around Aug. 31, 2021.
The original complaint filed at the time of his arrest listed six counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault and once count of witness tampering.
A final pretrial was held on Aug. 23, with jury selection set for Sept. 11.
Barrett's two day trial begins on Sept. 25.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, rather that enough evidence has been presented to move forward to trial.
