ROCHESTER - A Rochester man was arrested today in last Thursday's bank robbery at the Bank of New Hampshire branch on North Main Street.

Bart Allen Augustus, 45, of 78 Partridge Green Apartments, was charged with one count of robbery, a Class A felony, in connection with the incident.

The arrest warrant was served at the Strafford County Jail where Augustus was being held on a probation violation. Augustus refused bail and is scheduled for video arraignment in the Rochester Circuit Court tomorrow.

Augustus is alleged to have worn a dress and nylons over his head before entering the North Main Street branch of the Bank of New Hampshire on Thursday getting away with an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing with the loot.

The call came in around 4:30 p.m. and when Rochester Police arrived at the 301 North Main St. bank they learned that the suspect had strode into the building just minutes before and given a note demanding money to a female teller.

Augustus is said to have left through the bank's front doors and walked across the grass and along North Main St. in a northeasterly direction towards Pizza Hut, police said.
