DOVER - A Lafayette Street woman has been indicted for allegedly chasing her boyfriend with a knife while threatening to stab him during a domestic incident last month.

Joan Chesser, of 8A Lafayette St., Rochester, "purposely placed or attempted to place (the male victim) in fear of imminent bodily injury," when she chased him with a knife" on May 1, according to the indictment.

The grand jury handed down the indictment on a charge of domestic violence criminal threatening with a deadly weapon, a Class B felony that carries a three and a half to seven prison sentence if convicted.

The Strafford County grand jury indictments were released last week.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that enough evidence has been presented to warrant a trial.
