ROCHESTER - A Rochester woman was tracked down during a K9 search in the woods on Friday after she crashed her car into a ditch near Lowell Street and fled the scene, police say.

The incident unfolded in the area of Lowell Street and Hollis Lane around 9:45 p.m. as police responded to an abandoned vehicle that turned out to be a 2012 Jeep Liberty, which they found with the engine running and air bags deployed.

"While police were investigating and attempting to locate the driver of the vehicle, they were advised by a passer-by that a female was seen walking down the road trying to get a ride," Rochester Police Capt. Todd Pinkham said today.

While officers were speaking with the passer-by, they received a call from a nearby resident advising of a suspicious female on the property. The caller stated the female then went running in an unknown direction, according to a report.

Police then began a K9 track and continued looking for the female.

"While they were looking, several more calls were placed by nearby residents advising of a suspicious person running in the woods," Pinkham said.

A short time later the K9 track finally located the female in a wooded area between Lowell Street and Rochester Hill Road.

Jenny Jacobs, 44, of 98 Rochester Hill Road, Apt. 3A, was charged with drug possession, conduct after an accident and driving after revocation/suspension.
