ROCHESTER - A city woman who illegally painted a "Black Lives Matter" mural on a Spaulding Turnpike overpass in Rochester pleaded guilty last month.
Beth Wittenberg, who painted the mural at a location on Blackwater Road in July, agreed to plead guilty in exchange for prosecutors reducing the offense from a Class A misdemeanor punishable by jailtime to a violation.
Wittenberg, 51, has already paid $429 to remove the mural in restitution as part of the plea bargain.
She also received a suspended fine of $1,000, which will be imposed if she gets into any more trouble with the law within the next 12 months.
