PrintROCHESTER - Two city women face up to 15 years in prison after being indicted on welfare fraud charges by a Strafford County grand jury.
Sherry Wiggins, 35, with a last known address of 314 Rochester Hill Road, Apt. 1D; and Jill Place, 32, of 1 Manatee Drive, are both charged with Class A felonies, which carry a penalty of 7½-15 years in prison and a $4,000 fine.
Wiggins’ indictment indicates that between September 2012 and April of this year she purposely obtained or attempted to obtain benefits including cash, emergency assistance, food stamps and Medicaid to which she was not entitled by not accurately reporting her household composition.
Place was indicted on the same charges regarding food stamps and Medicaid benefits between November 2010 and May 2012.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that a grand jury has found sufficient evidence to move forward with a trial.
