CMP this morning announced a grim assessment of restoration efforts saying it may be several days until power is back in some areas.

The statement by company officials did not specifically address Lebanon, but said the company would be making no announcements today about when power might be restored.

The company reports more than 350,000 customers - more than half of the energy company's customer base - were without service at 10 a.m. Today.

"The region is still experiencing strong winds, which create dangerous conditions for service restoration," said Gail Rice, CMP spokesperson. "Our first priority is public safety, and crews are busy grounding and de-energizing downed lines so they don't pose a danger to first responders or the public. This critical step needs to be completed before restoration can begin."

CMP said it has secured additional line and tree crews from contractors to assist in the restroation effort.
