CONCORD - The Associated Builders and Contractors of NH/VT hosted a safety awards and graduation BBQ on June 10 to celebrate the 2021 Construction Safety Awards recipients and graduates of the Future Leaders in Construction and Construction Supervision Certificate programs.

The event was also attended by New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu.

"New Hampshire and Vermont are privileged to have so many contractors who infuse workplace safety on job sites across the region," said Josh Reap, President & CEO of ABC New Hampshire/Vermont Chapter. "Despite the pandemic, 2020 was one of the safest construction years on record."

Reap noted program participants worked a combined total of over 2.8 million personnel hours worked with zero lost time. "Thousands of skilled craftworkers didn't miss a single day on account of an injury that would prevent them from performing regular job duties," added Reap. "Our industry is tough, but the commitment to safety is even tougher."

Seventeen people graduated from ABC's leadership and job site training programs in 2021. Individuals that go through ABC training often ascend into roles of greater leadership and responsibility within their respective companies.

"Our Future Leaders in Construction graduates gain powerful insight into personnel management, self-improvement and leadership skills useful on and off the job site," added Reap. "We're proud of each one because they are the best of the industry."
