DOVER - The Strafford County Sheriff's Office today is crediting two quick thinking Superior Court security officers who may have saved the life of a man who overdosed on heroin in the courthouse parking lot on Monday.

"Of course we have Narcan in all the med bags on every floor," said Daniel Auger, executive director of the SCSO. "The security officers administered two doses."

The unidentified man had apparently overdosed inside his car in the front parking lot around 3:20 p.m.

"One of the employees downstairs saw the man unresponsive in his car and reported it to the courthouse security officers," Auger said.

An ambulance was quickly on hand and rushed the man to Wentworth Douglass Hospital.

Dover Police are investigating the case, however no charges are expected.

Auger said it was the first time he could recall such an incident occurring in the courthouse parking lot.

"They did a great job of bringing him back," he said.
