Current surge steams on as positivity rate climbs; hospitalizations also rise

CONCORD - The state's recent surge in coronavirus cases continued on Monday with 77 new positives identified amid a positivity rate of 1.6, a marked uptick from where it stood a week ago at, .9 percent.

On Monday the seven-day average of newly identified cases was also up - at 95 - compared to a recent pandemic low of 15.9 per day for the week ending Aug. 20.

Rockingham, Merrimack and Hillsborough counties along with the cities of Manchester and Nashua accounted for 55 of the new cases; Strafford County saw eight.

Other local numbers include 13 active cases in Rochester, 15 in Dover, six in Somersworth and 1-4 in Milton, Farmington, Strafford and Barrington.

Two new hospitalized cases were reported for a current number of 25.

DHHS also announced two additional deaths related to COVID-19, both men Hillsborough County men over 60.
