FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Norfolk County's District Attorney said on Wednesday that preliminary autopsy results identified "a medical issue" that led to the death of a New Hampshire man and Sunday's game at Gillette Stadium between the Patriots and the Dolphins.
The news comes after a witness told multiple media outlets that Dale Mooney, 53, of Newmarket, had gotten into an altercation with a Dolphins fan and been punched in the side of the head twice.
"Our investigation has included numerous law enforcement interviews and the examination of multiple angles of video capturing the scuffle prior to Mr. Dale Mooney's collapse," Norfolk DA Michael Morrissey said. "Preliminary autopsy results did not suggest traumatic injury, but did identify a medical issue. Cause and manner of death remain undetermined pending further testing."
