CONCORD, N.H. - Jerry DeLemus will get a second chance at bail before a federal judge, this time with noted New Hampshire defense attorney Mark Sisti representing him.

A federal judge on Thursday approved the motion to allow Sisti to argue the case for DeLemus' freedom while awaiting trial on several charges out of Nevada in connection with Cliven Bundy's 2014 standoff over grazing rights on public land near Bundy's ranch.

A federal judge on Tuesday had initially rejected bail for DeLemus, who is currently being held at the Strafford County Jail in Dover.

Sisti defended Pamela Smart in the 1990s murder of her husband. The trial was a national sensation, was watched on live TV and later became the subject of a book and movie.

DeLemus was arrested on March 3 when FBI agents swarmed his Rochester home in full tactical gear and guns drawn.

The Tea Party activist is also co-chair for the state Veterans for Donald Trump.

A hearing date and time was not available as of this posting.
