CONCORD - A Windham deputy town clerk was arrested on Thursday for allegedly illegally accessing private motor vehicle operator information for personal reasons.

Nancy Hogle, 61, was charged with two counts of violating RSA 260:14, the Driver Privacy Act. The act establishes that the Division of Motor Vehicles' (DMV) records are confidential. Only certain people and entities have access to those records, which are to be used solely for certain purposes permitted by law.

An investigation conducted by the New Hampshire State Police revealed that Hogle accessed and used protected information in an unauthorized fashion, specifically for personal use and without legitimate business reasons.

The investigation revealed that Hogle used her ability to access motor vehicle records to obtain residential addresses of individuals known to her for personal use.

The charges are class B misdemeanors, a crime that carries a maximum possible penalty of up to a $1,200 fine for each offense.

Hogle was released on personal recognizance bail. She will be arraigned on Dec. 10 at 8 a.m. in the 10th Circuit - District Division - Salem Court.
