Director of state's Outdoor Recreation dept to speak in Sanford

5:42 a.m.

SANFORD, Maine - The director of the state's new Office of Outdoor Recreation will be the featured speaker next month at the annual meeting of the Southern Maine Planning and Development Commission.

Carolann Ouellette previously served as the Executive Director of Maine Huts & Trails and before that she was the Director of the Maine Office of Tourism.

Maine is one of just 13 states to establish such an office. As a state that is known for getting people outdoors and creating reliable outdoor products, her office wants to help build and assist both the outdoor service providers and the outdoor product manufacturers.

Ouellette will also be working to grow Maine's outdoor recreation economy and build Maine's recreation brand.

The meeting will be held June 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the Sanford Town Club, which is located at 6 Washington St.
