DOVER - The father who police believe was shot multiple times by his son during a domestic dispute in Dover on Saturday has apparently been released from a local hospital.

Wentworth Douglass Hospital today said there was no one there by the name of John Davis, who was last listed as stable by a hospital spokesperson on Monday.

Police believe Davis' son, Brenton Davis, 55, shot his father several times before he retrieved a shotgun and returned fire Saturday morning around 9 a.m. The elder Davis, 76, then called 911 and was taken to the Dover hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Police entered the residence at 92 Three Rivers Road later in the day and found the younger Davis dead of a shotgun wound.

No one else was in the Davis home during the incident.

Police say Brenton Davis had a history of mental health issues.
