Dover man, a NH-licensed social worker, nabbed in sexual assault of minor

DOVER - A Dover man was arrested on Wednesday following a sexual assault investigation involving a minor.

Dover Police detectives Cedeno Fernandez, 43, of Dover, into custody after obtaining an arrest warrant charging him with two counts of Felonious Sexual Assault, 10 counts of Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Images, and one count of Possession of a Controlled Drug, all felony offenses.

The investigation began after a 15-year-old reported having met an adult male online through social media and later agreed to meet in person for sexual contact, according to a press release from Dover Police.

Through the course of the investigation, that individual was identified as Fernandez leading to a search warrant at his residence in Dover, where several electronic devices were seized as part of the investigation. During the search, detectives also located and seized methamphetamine, an illegal narcotic.

A forensic analysis of the seized electronic devices later revealed the presence of Child Sexual Abuse Images, resulting in the additional 10 felony charges. Investigators also determined that Fernandez is a state-licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Hampshire.

In accordance with state law, he was not eligible for bail and is being held at the Strafford County House of Corrections.
