Dover police investigating unattended Wednesday death

DOVER - The Dover Police Department announced today that they are currently investigating an unattended death that occurred in Dover on Wednesday.

According to a statement from the department, Police and Rescue responded a little after 9 p.m. to the area of Merry and Ridge streets for a report of an unconscious individual.

Upon arrival, they located the body of an adult male, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dover Police Lt. Brant Dolleman said today the body was found lying on the pavement in a parking lot by an individual or individuals who indicated in their 911 call there was a medical emergency. He also said there was no sign of violence connected with the incident.

At this time the Dover Police Department is not identifying the individual, pending the notification of next of kin. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of the man's death after an autopsy is conducted.

This case is being investigated by the Dover Police Department's Special Investigations Bureau.
