Dover teenager arrested in Friday credit union robbery

DOVER - A Dover teen has been arrested in the robbery of a Northeast Credit Union on Friday.

Austin Mclean, 18, of 5 Spring St., Dover, was arrested without incident at Dover Police Department headquarters at approximately 8:25 last night.

The robbery occurred around 2:35 p.m. when police say McLean entered the Northeast Credit Union branch at 9 Member's Way, passed a note to the teller indicating that he had a weapon and demanded cash.

The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money. No actual weapon was shown, and no one was injured during the robbery.

As Dover Police Department detectives and Crime Scene Unit officers investigated the robbery, surveillance images of the suspect were released to the media. As a result of this media coverage, numerous people contacted the Dover Police Department with information.

With the assistance of the public, and through further investigation, DPD detectives were able to identify Mclean as the alleged robber.

He was charged with one count of robbery, a Class A felony. Mclean was held on $25,000 cash bail and is being held at Strafford County House of Correction pending his arraignment on Monday.
