ROCHESTER - The rehearsals for Spaulding High School's production of "Frozen, the Broadway Musical" began before Christmas, but on Saturday huge excitement was in the air inside the school's auditorium as the 65 cast members got to see each other's wardrobe for the first time for their first dress rehearsal. In fact, every time another of the cast walked down the aisle form dressing rooms to the main stage there were "ooohs and ahhhhs" galore. Nikki Luciano-Bourgeois, Spaulding's director of Choral and Theater Activities, said the exuberance was expected after they'd been rehearsing their parts for almost two months. She said the cast had been looking forward with great anticipation to getting a chance to practice their lines and moves in full dress.
The play opens March 18 with a 6:30 p.m. show and runs through March 22. Luciano-Bourgeois.said the fast-paced musical will feature all the original characters, great special effects, and a couple of "amazing" puppets that play the lovable reindeer and snowman. Beside the cast, there will also be 15 Spaulding musicians in the orchestra pit, 20 students working the lights and a backstage crew of another 20. She added that the students are having a great time getting ready for the much-beloved children's classic. "Yes, they are really enjoying themselves," added Luciano-Bourgeois, "but the are taking the show process very seriously."
