EAST KINGSTON- A man is dead and a woman and two children were seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash in East Kingston on Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 1:40 p.m. on Burnt Swamp Road.

The adult male driver of the vehicle killed in the crash has been identified as Paul DiChiara, 27, of Newton, while an adult female passenger was taken by medflight to a Boston area hospital, according a Dept. of Safety press release.

Two children, a 9-month-old and a 3-year-old, also sustained serious injuries.

A preliminary investigation indicates excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash.
